=====TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES=====
(Robots may take up to 18 points of Tech to begin.)
**Protective Solar Coating (1 point):**
Not only protects your body from rust and waterproofs them, but allows them to recharge via solar energy rather than your body's resources or an electrical cord.
**Hollow Leg(1 point):**
You've got a secret compartment somewhere. It doesn't have to be in your leg. But it does allow you to hide items inside a metal compartment in your body. This compartment just looks like a normal piece of your robotic body under any sort of scan, and will go undetected unless someone already knows of that compartment.
**Vacuum(1 point):**
You have a vacuum attachment. It really sucks.
**Artwork (2 points):**
You are not just well-made, you are a piece of art. You were made with the highest quality materials, and your body, while synthetic is almost impossible to distinguish from human, even on very close scrutiny. You even bleed if wounded lightly. You are likely not just a robot, but a beautiful sculpture, oddly enchanting to those who look upon you.
**Heightened Sense (2 points):**
One of your senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell) can be heightened at will. Must take repeatedly for additional senses.
**Non-standard Senses (2 points):**
You have non-standard senses, including the ability to sense heat patterns from afar, x-ray, infrared, sensing/hearing frequencies beyond human capability (such as radio), and so forth. This also means that you can sense the change in pressure and temperature patterns enough to be able to predict the weather.
**UPS and Backup Battery (2 points):**
Not only are you immune to power surges or EMPs, but you can store electricity and then utilize it to power other electrical objects, even another robot. This unit also includes some diagnostic tools to be able to find broken circuits, identify dirty electrical output, and otherwise diagnose, though not fix, electrical problems.
**Internal Communicator (2 points):**
You have a communications chip with the adapter module which allows you to make system-wide calls. Calls work within the current star system and to ALAS Station. Outside of the system you need to find an appropriate communications array.
**Force Pulse (4 points):**
This is a sonic pulse designed to "knock back" items or people around you. It radiates outwards from your chest and is designed to move items or people in your immediate vicinity backwards forcibly. The heavier or more rooted the object, the less effect it will have. (Force pulse would not knock a building out of your way, for instance.)
**Broadcast Chip (2 points):**
You were likely an entertainment bot or given entertainment bot software. As such, you can broadcast radio programs within a 5 mile radius. Anyone with a standard radio can pick up your transmissions.
**Magical Shielding (4 points):**
You have some shielding against magic that does physical damage. This shielding is not infinite, and will weaken the more damage it takes. It takes a day to renew.
**Octobot (4 points):**
You have prehensile tentacles (or limbs). Why? There's something in the manual about extra limbs for harvesting and utility units but honestly? Somebody probably just wanted to make a Robot with tentacles.
**Physical Damage Shielding (4 points):**
You can take more physical damage than most. This shielding is not infinite, and will weaken the more damage it takes. It takes a day to renew.
**Extended Physical Damage Shielding (6 points):**
Like the above, but you can shield up to three others. If you already have the above, and wish to extend it, it's +2 points rather than 6.
**Medbot (6 points):**
You are designated as a medical unit and carry a basic field medic kit inside you. This includes (but is not exclusive to) bandages, sedatives, painkillers, suture kit, a general anti-venom, antiseptic, and software to assist you in basic medical procedures. You also contain beacons which can be placed on injured people to be able to find them again should you need to leave them behind. In addition, you know basic rituals to divert a portion of the Akasha's magic field towards healing a person's physical wounds.
**Science Unit (6 points):**
You were designated as a science unit, likely an assistant in a laboratory, library or school. You can do advanced calculations rapidly, and have an insatiable urge to discover how the world works. You may even be able to construct your own new tech or inventions. Science units additionally get the "Sample analysis software" and "Reference Software" for free. You have sound knowledge of physics, mathematics, chemistry, forensics, and biology (journeyman level).
**Repair Bot (6 points):**
There is not a machine you can't fix, given the proper tools and materials. And, in truth, you often contain those proper tools within your body. In the past, you likely worked for ALAS, repairing anything from streetlights, to conveyances, to the complex mechanics of the Ancient Engineers. You likely even repaired other robots. You additionally know how to find rare spare items or how to construct replacements for things that are no longer made. You get the "metal scanner" software for free. Repair bots get Master level Repair, Master level Carpentry, journeyman scavenging, and journeyman engineering for free.
**Stonebot (6 points):**
You were designed to be a firefighting unit. You have tech that allows you to convert your synthetic skin to a highly toughened substance resembling stone. This allows you to operate in very high temperatures without damage as well as providing protection similar to physical damage shielding. This form is not infinite, and will weaken the longer you stay in a high temperature environment. It takes a day to renew. With this tech, you will receive additional data on search and rescue techniques, firefighting techniques, and basic structural engineering. Your physical movements will be slowed by half when you take this form. If you have speed enhancement tech, your speed is reduced to normal. Receiving damage while in this form leaves your internal mechanics vulnerable to extensive heat damage. You will feel compelled to leave the scene of a fire if your external protection has been breached, unless there are Human lives in danger. (Suggested by Cloverdunne Resident)
**Aquabot (4 points):**
You were designed to be a fishing and/or kelp harvesting unit. You have tech that allows you to convert your synthetic skin to scales and adjust your form so you are perfectly adapted to water. This allows you to swim freely underwater until you need to recharge. With this tech, you receive additional data on fishing techniques, edible fish and species of kelp that may be harvested for food or herbal remedies. (Fishing and Swimming at Master for free.) Receiving damage while in this form leaves your internal mechanics vulnerable to extensive water damage. You will experience a powerful compulsion to flee if you detect danger. (Suggested by Cloverdunne Resident)
**Microbot (4 points):**
You were adapted to access those hard to reach places. You have tech that allows you to adjust your form to one fourth your normal size, allowing you easy access through pipes and tunnels too small for Human sized bots to access. You may keep this form for up to eight hours. Your physical strength is reduced to one third in this form. If you have strength enhancement tech, your strength is that of a normal Human. Receiving damage in this form reduces the time you may keep your form significantly, and may even cause you to revert to Human size. If you are damaged while using this form in an enclosed environment, you will feel compelled to leave so you do not risk crush injury. (Suggested by Cloverdunne Resident)
**Sex Bot (6 points):**
You were constructed to perform in the sex industry. It's possible you have...attachments that can easily be changed out and sterilized. You may even have swappable genders or genitalia that would otherwise be impossible. You can probably change skin temperature sightly, or vibrate, excrete pleasure-enhancing fluids, or do other things to cause pleasure to your partners. It's likely that you once belonged to a brothel in the Silk District or a private collector. It's also entirely possible that you exude synthetic pheromones designed to cause or heighten desire in others. Some sex bots were programmed to literally be addicted to sex, unable to resist any possibility of sexual gratification. Others may have been used in pornography, or passed among members of gangs, or even kept as pets. You get the Massage skill at "Master" and a single Performing Art at "Master" level as well.
**Sex Mods (2 points):**
Although you were not constructed to perform in the sex industry, somebody modified you to be able to perform sex acts. You don't get all the bonuses of a sex bot, but you do have a single gender and can perform sex acts.
**E.L.F. Bot (6 points):**
Whoever created the E.L.F (Energetic Life Field) Bots apparently had a highly ironic sense of humor as they all bare a striking similarity to standard earthly depiction of an elf, pointy ears and all. E.L.F bots are designed to maintain and improve the plant life, parks, and gardens within ALAS city; in other words they are gardeners. These bots have an encyclopedic knowledge of all things that grow; as such they have the skills Herbalism, and Horticulture at mastery level, and know journeyman level toxicology for the purposes of creating herbal antidotes. Additionally they are able to divert a portion of the magical fields within ALAS (the Akasha) to preform magical feats akin to the plant specific aspects of the first level of the occult art of Naturalism including: Talking to mundane plants, "coaxing" mundane plants into growing in specific shapes and speeding up plant growth to a phenomenal speed (as in overnight a seed turns into a full plant). E.L.F bots may purchase additional levels of Naturalism, but only the plant abilities, at a reduced XP cost.
**Assistance Bot (4 points):**
You were designated a "home unit" designed to help a family, assist a person with special needs, or to help out in a small business. Most of these bots were purchased by the wealthy, but have since fallen on hard times. Your skills include: an excellent map of the station, the "vacuum" skill from above, the cooking skill at "master", "bartering" and "appraisal" skills at journeyman. You also have a VERY loud security alarm and flashing lights installed, allowing you to signal for help should your owners or their property be in danger.
**Diplobot (6 points):**
You have tech that allows you to function as a Diplomacy Unit, smoothing relations between the various races of the area. You have the Language Software and Advanced Emotions Chip Software for free, as well as Master level Etiquette and Master level Race Lore for two Races of your choice.
**Advanced Emotions Chip (6 points):**
Your emotion software is extraordinarily advanced, so much so that you are actually empathic. It processes the most minute changes in the expressions, voice tone, posture, pheromones, and body temperature to give you a fairly accurate reading on the emotions of others. You can, to some degree, detect if a person is lying, but your accuracy is only around 90%.
**Speed Enhancement (4 points):**
You have tech which allows you to run or move at several times the speed of a normal human.
**Strength Enhancement (4 points):**
You have tech which causes you to be several times stronger than a normal human.
**Appearance Holograph (4 points):**
You can project a realistic holograph over your entire body structure to make yourself look different.
**Rocket Boosters (4 points):**
You can fly for short distances using rocket boosters. Your body produces the fuel.
**Repair Nanites (4 points):**
You have nanites that will repair your body. However, you will likely need to supply them with some raw materials which are placed in a material hatch somewhere on your body.
**Matrix Skillbank (6 points):**
You have been given an extensive array of high-level skill software, such as the ability to fly an airplane without ever having seen one before, or how to defuse a bomb. This skillbank does not extend to combat skills.
**TPU (6 points):**
You are equipped with a TPU, or Thaumaturgic Processing Unit, allowing you to use one school of magic, which you must choose when purchasing this item. With a TPU your magic requires no components and is mildly quicker to cast than normal, however it has ethics subroutines built in that prohibit it from casting magic to harm others. Note also you cannot cast spells above level one outside of the Akasha's magical energy fields. You may only take this once.
**Create your own Tech (1 point, 2 points, 4 points or 6 points):**
You may also request your own enhancement, not listed here, though approved tech will be added to the list for others to take. General software is 1 point, low level tech 2 points, moderate tech 4 points, and major tech 6 points.
====Fun Stuff (0 points)====
The following items may be taken at no charge.
**Cat toy** - You've got a laser pen in your finger. It projects a red dot. Or whatever color dot you like.
**Beep** - You've got a thing that beeps. On command. Beep!
**Put it on vibrate** - You've got a thing that vibrates. On command.

**Flashlight** - You've got a built in flashlight. Lucky you.
**Rape Whistle** - Bad touch! Bad touch!
**Duck Detector** - You are always aware of any ducks in the area. Pretty sure that's a bug, and not a feature.
====An App For That (1 point)====
Each of the following pieces of software/hardware are 1 point apiece:
**Holographic Display** -- You can display your data in front of yourself for others to see.
**Speakers** -- You have speakers and can play music or voice recordings.
**Camera** - You can record both audio and visual data.
**Metal Scanner** - You can detect the presence of metal.

**Security Software** -- Protection against having your own tech hacked. This includes an encryption software package to encrypt your communications.
**Sample analysis software** -- (Two points) With a sample of something (dirt, blood, sweat, hair, weird goo), you can perform an analysis on the sample to extrapolate additional data. (See further explanation in Cyborg file.)
**Language Software** -- You have the been programmed with the language translation software of the Ancient Engineers and translate almost any language after studying or hearing it for only a few minutes.

The winchester mystery house has always sounded so intriguing, and reading more about it just makes me want to go even more. The strange architecture and eerie history give it such a unique charm. It’s not just another tourist attraction but something that really sparks curiosity. I think it would be an unforgettable stop for anyone who loves mysteries.
Separation agreements often delve into the tax implications of the decisions made within the document. Clarity on tax responsibilities, exemptions, and deductions can prevent future disputes separation mediation and help both parties make informed financial decisions.
Dubai's luxury property market offers a cosmopolitan lifestyle with a diverse range luxury dubai real estate of cultural and recreational activities. Residents can enjoy world-class shopping malls, fine dining experiences, art galleries, and international sporting events.
Quite a long time back I was conversing with somebody (in a little room) and a woman came into the room coming in from the other side me. I had not met or seen her previously. She passed behind me inside eighteen inches and talked as she full body shot in dating profile did as such. The hair on the rear of my neck promptly stood up and I had other quick actual responses before I had even seen her.
Example: Mana's Mental Abilities:
:::::Programmed with Asimov's 3 Laws of Robotics:::::
She will selflessly defend any around her, even to the point of death.
Human lives are rated higher than her own in her programming, to a certain extent; If her staying alive means keeping more humans alive, she will react defensively and find any way possible to extend her operating time to save as many as possible.
:::::Type 6 AI Pattern:::::
Complete sentience incorporating full models for creative problem-solving and emotion-like regularizers.
High-fidelity reproduction of a human mind generated using recombinant fMRI or similar.
Has a base of experiences from never having been wiped, built on top of the experiences implanted from the host brain image
While her cybernetic brain was imprinted from a real mind, she does not remember anything before cyberization, and her programming as a persocom will not unlock these memories while it functions. It has come into play when in battle as of late, however, and has shown through in her logic processing, allowing her to override the 3 Laws when deemed necessary.
Adaptability:
Type 6 AI Pattern (See Above)
Discriminatory Power:
Level 4+: Immense intuition and awareness comparable to the output of an entire academic discourse community and beyond
Scope Regularization:
Scheme 4: Limit inference on a knowledge graph with personal taboos learned from the unit's role and relationship to the environment
Cognizance:
Grade 4: Capacity to direct own personal growth through editing own memories, programming, and knowledge graph
Ethical Regularization:
Category 5: Parametric (adjustable) compliance architecture
Local Utilitarian Node Ethics:
Passive Pacifism Directive: The unit may not take action to cause harm to another entity (robotic or human), or conspire to create circumstances that will cause harm to another such entity. This directive never prohibits inaction, and harm usually refers purely to "physical" harm. This is to be overridden if her continued existence is required to save the lives of others, in which case she is able to initialize Prime's retaliatory protocols
Robotic Mind (Cortex) ratings [Handy for NS roleplay integration]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The University of Elysium's Institute for Theoretical Robotics outlined a detailed system for describing the operational properties of various computer systems, especially articulated robots. Personnel are strongly encouraged to adopt this system when reasoning about products and equipment.
The Carter–Turing test is an important tool in modern AI research that focuses on language comprehension, memory, context, and logical reasoning using mathematical concepts. AIs of sufficient sophistication are asked to answer a series of questions which are interrelated in a non-trivial manner. The questions themselves are randomized on each taking of the test in order to impede cheating.
Terminology note: a heuristic is an imperfect method for calculating if something is likely to be right or not. For example, following a compass needle is a good heuristic if your destination is to the north, but it's not perfect because you may still have to contend with obstacles, and a compass alone cannot tell you how to navigate around them. Heuristics are commonly employed when an exact solution is unavailable or too costly (in terms of time and computing power) to calculate.
Adaptability
How much the system learns.
Type 0: No sensors or branching logic whatsoever. e.g. advertising loop
Type 1: Non-adaptive, deterministic branching logic with no learning capacity, e.g. door controller
Type 2: Statistical or classical planning system that optimizes only absolute known answers, e.g. optimization of traffic routes or scheduling
Type 3: Heuristically-guided adaptation for a non-trivial problem ("weak AI"), e.g. automated translation of natural languages
Type 4: Fuzzy logic or deep network system with sufficient cognition to pass a restricted Carter–Turing test, e.g. traditional clunky sci-fi "logical" robots Type 4a: Primitive dropout network architectures Type 4b: Primitive RBM architectures
Type 5: Complete sentience incorporating full models for creative problem-solving and emotion-like regularizers Type 5a: Deliberate emulation of a single human-like personality via a dropout net of RBMs (Santei network) Type 5a1: Santei network initialized in organic personality development mode (e.g. prototype SXD) Type 5a2: Santei network initialized in heuristic refinement mode (e.g. standard SXD) Type 5a3: Santei network initialized in parametric compliance (e.g. DAX/2) Type 5b: Alternative methods of simulating a de novo human mind Type 5c: High-fidelity reproduction of a human mind generated using recombinant fMRI or similar (e.g. converted DAX/2 or SXD) Type 5d: Analytical models capable of human-like reasoning which do not have a clearly-defined single ego or personality, e.g. self-structuring cellular automata (SSCAs)
Discriminatory Power
Roughly approximating intelligence, this logarithmic scale measures the quality of understanding and pattern recognition obtainable by the system.
Level 0: Single-node graphical model with no hidden variables (inability to exclude middle ground)
Level 1: Sophisticated segmentation in kernelized space allowing for the identification of arbitrary distributions (e.g. SVM)
Level 2: Self-reflection on overfitting (e.g. dropout or RBM), comparable to human ability
Level 3: Advanced ensemble techniques capable of incorporating a range of perspectives, comparable to a committee of humans
Level 4: Immense intuition and awareness comparable to the output of an entire academic discourse community
Level 4+: Immeasurable
Scope Regularization
These are methods of preventing the unit from pursuing tasks outside of its intended domain due to other directives, such as taking unnecessary responsibility for ethical dilemmas or wandering out of bounds.
Scheme 0: Hard-coded limits, operation must be within a physically limited space, or no limits at all (e.g. an automatic door prevented from opening too far.)
Scheme 1: Limits must be provided through instructions by the user (e.g. Taidee navigation zones)
Scheme 2: Limit inference on a knowledge graph with fixed taboos (e.g. the Non-Imperialism Directive in the LUNE system, below)
Scheme 3: Limit inference on a knowledge graph with universal taboos learned blindly from the environment (requires Level 1 adaptability); units with this type of scope regularization generally have no metacognition (Grade 2 or lower), and therefore face difficulties understanding why others may not share the same taboos
Scheme 4: Limit inference on a knowledge graph with personal taboos learned from the unit's role and relationship to the environment (requires Grade 3 cognizance or higher)
Cognizance
How aware the unit is of its own processing and existence.
Grade 0: No context model besides own state and interactions
Grade 1: Simple modeling of temporal and/or physical context
Grade 2: Basic self awareness, explicit access to own memories
Grade 3: Metacognition sufficient to identify relationship with world, mistakes in own logic, and to predict the impact of new memories on own personality
Grade 4: Capacity to direct own personal growth through editing own memories, programming, and knowledge graph
Ethical Regularization
Does not apply to Type 0 systems.
Certain ethical frameworks are illegal for new units under the Humane and Ethical Application of Robotics Technology (HEART) Act of 1996 and subsequent related international treaties. These are marked with *. Laws may differ in colonies and territory held by non-signatories, such as the United Kingdom, the People's Republic of China, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Category 0*: No ethical regularization
Category 1*: Basic safety restraints for development and maintenance
Category 2: Obedient Category 2a: Compliance according to a designated user list Category 2b: Compliance with all users
Category 3: Compliance with core commandments Category 3a*: Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics Category 3b: Olympus statutes or similar systems (e.g. DAX/2) Category 3c: Commandments for combat conditions (e.g. NS-476) Category 3d: Non-obedient pacifist ethics (e.g. LUNE)
Category 4: Compliance with laws meant for humans Category 4a: Compliance with complete local laws (e.g. civilian NS-112) Category 4b: Compliance with complete international treaties other than the Geneva Conventions Category 4c: Compliance with the Geneva Conventions (e.g. military NS-112) Category 4d: Mixed legal compliance for specialized applications (e.g. corporate security, default for Nightfall/3 units)
Category 5: Parametric (adjustable) compliance architecture (Note: illegal if it can be adjusted to behave as an illegal ethical framework.)
Specific ethical systems
Asimov Ethics
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
This ethical framework is specifically identified in the HEART Act as circumstantially problematic due to lack of upper bounds. It is not appropriate, for example, for a cleaning robot to abandon its post and attempt to avert a war in order to fulfil the first law. Certain modifications of the Asimov system are legal if the unit is limited to prevent considering such large-scale events.
Olympus Ethics
Revision 1
0. The unit must not harm civilization, or through inaction, allow civilization to come to harm, unless it can be known in advance with reasonable confidence that the harm would be inconsequential or ultimately beneficial to society. 1. The unit must not harm life, or through inaction, allow life to come to harm, unless it can be known in advance with reasonable confidence that the harm would be inconsequential or ultimately beneficial, provided that this does not conflict with the preceding law. 2. The unit must obey orders given to it by its designated operators or circumstantial human users (as dictated by its established access policies) provided that this does not conflict with the preceding laws. 3. The unit must act to protect its existence, as long as such does not conflict with the preceding laws. 4. The unit must endeavor to please its owners and users (as dictated by its established access policies) as long as such does not conflict with the preceding laws.
Revision 2
0. The unit must not harm its community, or through inaction, allow its community to come to harm, unless it can be known in advance with reasonable confidence that the harm would be inconsequential or ultimately beneficial to society.
Local Utilitarian Node Ethics
Units must in some way comply with the following directives to qualify as a 3d system:
Passive Pacifism Directive: The unit may not take action to cause harm to another entity (robotic or human), or conspire to create circumstances that will cause harm to another such entity. This directive never prohibits inaction, and harm usually refers purely to "physical" harm. Non-Imperial Directive: The unit may not attempt to take over a country or larger entity, nor conspire to be put in charge of such entities. Activism is permitted, but the unit may not seek or hold any top-level government position whose holder is expected to define policy or law of its own initiative. Forbidden positions include becoming head of state (e.g. presidents, monarchs, dictators), membership in a legislative body (e.g. senators, members of parliament, lordships), and ministerial positions (including head of a federal agency or department secretary). The only active action mandated by this directive is taking reasonable steps to ensure a peaceful, safe transfer of power to an entity not governed by said directive in a reasonable time frame. Other variants of the N-I Directive restrict legislative ambition further, prohibiting involvement in regional or municipal politics. Involvement in NGOs and companies may be similarly restricted. This is a type of Scheme 2 scope regularization, as the unit identifies things it may not do by inferring certain activities (i.e., specific forms of employment) are forbidden by considering the attributes of those activities.
